Is It All Over (1st demo recorded 1975)

about

This is the first ever known recording of me doing Is It All Over back in 1975 at my house in Houston Texas. Armed with my trusty 1964 Gibson Melody Maker with a single coil pick up and a Gibson 10 watt tube amp cranked to 11, or as Billy G calls it, scorched level. I began with the guitar and vocals on two tracks and recorded them using the effect of slap back echo with a TEAC sound on sound tape echo device looped into two of the 4 channels of my TEAC 2340s 4 track reel to reel tape machine. After successfully recording guitar and vocals, I added the bass onto track 4. Then in real time I added the pump pipe organ to track 3. For 41 years this version stayed hidden at the near to end of a BASF 7" tape. I did the transfers from analog to digital on all of the odd ball tapes. By that time Shayne was a bit burned out from all of the 6 legal size boxes full of 5" and 7" reels of tape recordings of me.
From the lead footage of the tape here is how it all came to be over. I had been jamming around all evening on this antique air pumped pipe organ that Jane and I had bought a few months earlier. I felt a song coming from somewhere. Jane and I were having an on going conversation, while I was taping myself playing the organ. We were talking about how many ideas had slipped threw our hands because of the lack of paper and pen being near by when we needed it. So, hence the line about Jane not being so quick with the pen and my intelligence not letting me do it again. Wow, that now makes since to why that line was in that song. Is It All Over in your face so raunchy and raw.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did when I found it after hours of searching for old material to compile and put up here on Bandcamp.
